A Busy Season of Life Indeed…

Tis the Season…

Holy heck… I have been busy.

I’ve come to the conclusion that that it’s just the Season I’m currently walking through. I work a LOT, both at my corporate job where I sell medical software remotely from home, and here on TheMamaCollective. When I’m not doing those things, I’m cleaning or cooking, or cleaning, or bathing someone, or at a soccer practice. You know, the usual. The truth is working-mom life is no joke. Not for any of us at any time. It’s normal for me to be busy from the moment my feet hit the floor at 5:00 am til the moment my head hits the pillow at 10:30 or 11:-00 at night. I’m sure you feel the same way.

I feel like I’ve been going a thousand miles an hour these days. I’ve got LOTS of updates in regards to the Podcast, the website, and my newest website to share, and thought now would be a great time to re-launch the blog.

For those of you that don’t know, I had a blog on my previous company’s page where I would talk about all things working parenthood, careers, and job-search strategy. Those are not exactly topics everyone wants to read about, but in my zone of genius it’s where I happen to thrive. My first business was a career consulting firm, and that blog resonated really well with about 10 people…. :)

Clearly, I still like to talk about those things but my goal with this blog is to keep it fresh and light and related to a variety of topics most moms want to discuss and read about. I have quite a few thoughts on where motherhood and work intersect, and also on the current modern-mom model in general, but we’ll get to that all eventually. For now, I want to update you on this little corner of the web, the podcast, and where its all going.

HireMamas

A few months ago I launched a movement called the HireMamas Movement. It was well received by people online and I immediately recognized that our job board was a huge hit. We had a surge in email subscribers from that campaign, and that got the wheels turning in my head again as it related to the job board.

It seemed that the platform we were using for the board wasn’t going to be robust or adequate enough for our long term goals, and that it needed a serious upgrade. Since then I’ve been busy behind the scenes implementing a new platform, and also made the decision to move our jobs site to it’s own corner of the web.

We still connect to our board here on TheMamaCollective and it’s still ours, but it felt like it really needed to be it’s own thing and have it’s own home. Now that it does, more people and businesses can find it and more women can connect to better jobs. Truthfully, that was always the goal anyway and now it is actually happening. So exciting!

If you’re a business owner and would like to post your jobs on there, feel free to reach out to me directly via email at carla.jallo@themamacollective.co. I’d love to chat with you personally.

Also, if you simply like what we’re doing and can share it with your friends via-social media, we’d be so appreciative. I truly believe we can help connect women to better work options. In order to do that, we’ve got to spread the word.

TheMamaCollective

As for the MamaCollective, we are in a building phase. My goal is to build a strong community here with events, real connections, and with really amazing women. Therefore, we’re kicking off some real in person networking events in April. If you’re in the Knoxville, TN area we’d love for you to attend. Even if you’re not in the area, you can still connect to us through our Circle Membership and foster some strong connections.

There’s an event calendar on the homepage. Also, if these events go well we’ll expand into Chattanooga and Nashville next… Maybe Asheville, Charleston, or Atlanta.. We’ll see! The sky’s the limit.

The Podcast

Oh, the podcast. I love the podcast. It has been a labor of love and such a learning experience for me. To be honest it has taken me WAY out of my comfort zone. Learning to host, edit, and publish podcasts has been a wild ride, and one that took up a significant amount of time. None of those things were in my wheelhouse and the first several episodes were really scary for me to do. The podcast has been on hiatus for a while, and the reasons behind that are varied and lengthy, but the key word there is alignment. It just wasn’t aligning well for me or my kids, my schedule, or the direction of TheMamaCollective for a hot minute.

All that to say, I’m relaunching the podcast in May with a more aligned version of it (along with a new name) that will align better with TheMamaCollective and what we’re trying to achieve. I hope you can tune in!

Wrapping it up…

Sharing this little update with y’all has been on my mind for quite some time. It’s helpful to get it all out of my brain and onto a screen for you to read. Thank you for following our journey and for your support with TheMamaCollective. I hope we can help you find more balance, connect to a great job, find your unicorn space, or even help you foster friendships through our Circle. That’s truly why were are here.

Talk to you soon!

xoxo,

Carla
